Million Cat Challenge

Million cat challenge logo

The CFHS is proud to be a founding member of the Million Cat Challenge, a shelter-based campaign to save the lives of one million cats in North America over the next five years. The campaign focuses on five key initiatives that offer every shelter, in every community, practical choices to reduce euthanasia and increase live outcomes for shelter cats.

In 2012, the CFHS released a groundbreaking multi-stakeholder report on the crisis of cat overpopulation facing our country – the first of its kind to help better understand the negative consequences of cat overpopulation including homelessness, overburdened shelters, and euthanasia.

The Million Cat Challenge will help the CFHS and participating shelters to tackle this cat overpopulation crisis running rampant in North America. Learn more about the Million Cat Challenge.

In addition to saving cat lives, the CFHS is committed to celebrating the human-cat bond and improving cat welfare across the country. Just For Cats film festival is a masterfully curated reel of internet cat videos screened coast to coast across Canada. Maine coon2
