The CFHS is proud to host this year’s National Animal Welfare Conference (NAWC) in Ottawa, Ontario. The focus of NAWC 2009 will be the cat overpopulation problem in Canada. The guest speakers for this year’s event are representative of many animal welfare agencies combatting feline overpopulation and will provide an informative and interesting experience for all our guests.
NAWC 2009 will feature Dr. Rebecca Ledger, who will be speaking about her work in temperament testing and increasing the feline adoption success rate in their shelters. We will also be hosting Bill Bruce from Calgary’s Animal Control department to talk about Calgary’s cat overpopulation management strategies – their successes and how they were achieved. Attendees of last year’s conference will no doubt be glad to hear that Niamh Caffrey is back to present the results of her research on euthanasia in Canadian shelters.
Interested in attending? The conference will be held on May 2-3 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Ottawa. For more information about NAWC 2009 click here. If you have further questions please contact Marlowe Filippov or call 1-888-224-CFHS (2347) ext. 16.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks for more details!
