Urging the Political Party Leaders to Debate the Issue of Animal Cruelty
On October 14th, 2008 Canadians will go to the polls to decide which candidate will be elected in their riding, which leader will be made Prime Minister and which party will form the new government. With the campaign on-going, the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS) urges all Canadians to raise the issue of animal cruelty laws with candidates and party leaders during the campaign. There is a well documented link between animal cruelty and domestic violence, yet animal cruelty legislation in Canada has essentially remained unchanged since 1892.
