The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies is a proud partner of the 2009 Iams Home 4 the Holidays program (IH4TH).
This program, created by the Helen Woodward Animal Centre, has inspired and encouraged families to welcome orphaned pets into their home during the holiday season. Over the past ten years, Iams Home 4 the Holidays has helped 3 million animals across North America find homes – over 1.2 million pets were adopted into new families last year alone.
IH4TH has set its most aggressive pet adoption goal to-date. This year, the program will aim to find homes for 1.5 million pets across North America from October 1, 2009 until January 4, 2010.

Pet parent Hilary Swank is working side-by-side with IH4TH as the official campaign ambassador and will help promote the need for pet adoption. Swank’s two dogs Karoo and Rumi have joined her efforts to promote adoption. Karoo, a Corgi-mix was rescued a few years ago from the roadside in South Africa and just last October, Swank adopted Rumi, a golden retriever-blend from a participating IH4TH shelter in Los Angeles.
Every family who adopts a pet through the program will receive an Iams adoption kit containing information on nutrition, training and proper care to ensure that the relationship with the new animal starts off on the right paw.
