Humane Movement Loses a Friend

We are very sad to report the passing of a long-time friend, supporter and volunteer of the CFHS and of the humane movement in Canada. Stu Rammage passed away in Penticton, British Columbia in April. Stu retired in 1978 after a long career with the RCMP. He then worked as Executive Director and then Field Director with the BC SPCA until 1990. Since that time, Stu was a volunteer on the Board of Directors, various committees and task forces of the BC SPCA and the CFHS. Most recently, he chaired the CFHS Wildlife and Habitat Committee and was the Federation’s Honorary Historian.

Stu spent many years researching the history of the CFHS and ultimately produced an extensive manuscript documenting the organization’s history, going back to the 1940’s. Stu’s work will be cherished for many years as a commemoration to the dynamic leaders who contributed so much to the development of the CFHS as Canada’s national voice for animals.
