Political party views in 2008

During the 2008 election, the CFHS asked each Political Party the following Four Questions on Animal Cruelty:

1. What steps would your party take, if any, to make the welfare of farm animals a higher priority of government?
2. Are you concerned about livestock transport times? Would your party move to reduce transport times and improve conditions for animals in transit and at slaughter? If so, how?
3. Do you think industry self-auditing is the way to go for food safety and animal welfare or do you support stringent government oversight of slaughterhouses?
4. Do you think the animal cruelty sections of the Criminal Code need to be changed? If so, what changes would your party propose?
