Political party views in 2008
During the 2008 election, the CFHS asked each Political Party the following Four Questions on Animal Cruelty:
- What steps would your party take, if any, to make the welfare of farm animals a higher priority of government?
- Are you concerned about livestock transport times? Would your party move to reduce transport times and improve conditions for animals in transit and at slaughter? If so, how?
- Do you think industry self-auditing is the way to go for food safety and animal welfare or do you support stringent government oversight of slaughterhouses?
- Do you think the animal cruelty sections of the Criminal Code need to be changed? If so, what changes would your party propose?
