The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS) is a powerful united voice speaking out on national animal welfare issues on behalf of its members societies. For several years now it has been the primary advocate of changes to the animal cruelty provisions of the Criminal Code of Canada. This is crucial to member societies and to the men and women in the field – cruelty inspectors – who must enforce the Code. The CFHS also lends its support to member societies seeking changes to legislation and bylaws at the provincial and municipal levels of government.
