The Saskatchewan SPCA will be hosting its second annual Conference on Animal Welfare and Protection from September 22 to 24, 2006 in Saskatoon.
This conference will bring together representatives of all SPCAs and humane societies of the province to interact and share common animal welfare concerns as well as discuss new program initiatives. The conference is also open to members of other animal welfare organizations and interested individuals.
Sessions will be dealing with a variety of topics like compassion fatigue, the relationship between animal abuse and domestic violence, and the roles and responsibilities of board members.
Workshops will include: examination and restraint techniques of dogs and cats; vaccination strategies for dogs and cats in animal shelters; and behaviour assessment programs for shelter dogs.
