Cat adoption rates temporarily reduced

Charlottetown, PE – In preparation of important renovations to its Cat Adoption Room, the P.E.I. Humane Society is temporarily reducing its Cat Adoption Rates.Effective immediately until Saturday, May 12th, the adoption fee for one cat is $100 and the adoption rate for two cats is $135. As with all adoptions from the Shelter, this fee includes the animal’s:
- spay or neuter surgery;
- permanent microchip ID;
- all up-to-date vaccinations; and
- 30 days of complimentary pet health insurance.
An increased number of adoptions means fewer cats will have to be relocated within the Shelter to accommodate important renovations set to begin on May 14th. The project will involve replacing a portion of traditional metal kennels in the Cat Adoption Room with 2 new glass-fronted communal cat rooms. Communal housing has proven less stressful for cats in a Shelter environment and potentially increases adoptions by providing a more relaxed, natural environment for both the animals and the visitors to the Adoption area.
