Helping the people of Ottawa find a Friend for Life

OTTAWA (3 May, 2007) – Spring is the perfect time to take home a furry new addition to your family, and the Ottawa Humane Society wants to help residents of Ottawa find their “friend for life”. That’s why the Ottawa Humane Society, in partnership with Iams and the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS), is proud to celebrate Iams Friends for Life Week from May 7 – 13.

Iams Friends for Life Week is a one-week national campaign dedicated to promoting pet adoptions and providing Canadians with the tools and information they need to become responsible pet owners.

To help promote pet adoptions on a local level, Iams will donate 8 lbs of dog food and 4 lbs of cat food1 to the Ottawa Humane Society for each dog or cat adoption that takes place over the course of Friends for Life Week. In addition, Iams will donate $1 from each purchase of IAMS Dry Dog and Cat Foods2 to the CFHS, ultimately helping to fund programs that support local member shelters across the country.

Bruce Roney, Executive Director of the Ottawa Humane Society, is available to discuss the Iams Friends for Life Week campaign and to provide prospective pet owners with valuable tips and info, including:

  • How dog/cat adoptions during Iams Friends for Life Week will benefit the Ottawa Humane Society
  • Pet adoption 101: everything you need to know about adopting and caring for a new pet
  • Tips for choosing the right companion for you and your family
  • The importance of proper pet nutrition
